Housing

On Campus

Permanent university housing can be arranged through USU's Housing Services. If you have not signed a housing contract but would like to, you can submit an application through their website. These spaces fill quickly, so students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. International students who already have a housing contract will be able to move into their assigned rooms a few days before classes begin. Students staying in university housing must provide items such as sheets, pillowcases, pillows, blankets, towels, and room furnishings. These items can be purchased in Logan.

If you plan to come early or would like more information, call Housing Services at (435)797-3113. International students with families who have signed a contract for on-campus housing should contact the Family Student Housing Office at (435)797-0281 before arrival to make move-in arrangements.

Family Visitors

Utah State University is always happy to have family visit students.  We encourage families to stay on campus in the University Inn, located in the center of campus.  Visitors will enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast as well as close proximity to residence halls and the Taggart Student Center.  Please visit the University Inn webpage for more information and to make reservations.

Other Important Information

Finances

Before coming to the U.S., learn the procedures for transferring money from your country. You should be prepared to meet your initial expenses here for tuition, room and board, books, health insurance, personal items, and one month of food and living expenses. Zion's Bank is located on campus in the TSC for your convenience. Once you arrive at Utah State University, you can set up a personal bank account into which you can transfer funds.

Dress Code

There is no official or required dress code at Utah State University. Most men and women students wear casual clothing, often jeans or pants. Occasionally you may have need for more formal clothing such as a sports coat or suit for men and a party dress for women. Informal and comfortable clothing is practical for classes and most activities.

Weather

Logan is located 85 miles north of Salt Lake City in a beautiful mountain valley (elevation 4,535 feet). We have four distinct seasons. Spring and fall are beautiful here with warm days and cool nights. Summer is a delightful time with hot days and warm evenings—perfect for outdoor activities. Winter is very cold. You can expect several snowstorms during winter months. Year round, rainfall averages 10-12 inches in Logan.

Because there are four seasons, you will need lightweight and heavyweight clothing. If you are arriving in December or January, consider bringing basic items such as a coat and sweater. All items of clothing you may require can be purchased in Logan.
