"Innovative Best Practices in International Higher Education"
Welcome to this year's Utah International Higher Education Summit! We are currently accepting proposals for the fourth annual Summit. Given this year's theme, we warmly invite proposals from a variety of programs, institutions, and disciplinary backgrounds. Please click here for proposal submission guidelines.
This year we are excited to have Dr. Mitch Leventhal as our keynote speaker. Please see below for his biography. We will also enjoy panel discussions, poster presentations, and round table sessions, the topics of which will all be submitted by you and selected by the Summit planning committee. Submissions are due on this page by Friday, October 4th.
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Mitch Leventhal
Mitch Leventhal joined SUNY as Vice Chancellor for Global Affairs in September 2009. An international leader in the area of international education policy and practice, Dr. Leventhal is a vocal advocate for important reform of US recruiting practice, development of new financing paradigms in support of campus internationalization, creation of technical systems better designed to support comprehensive internationalization, and deeper and more creative approaches to engagement with corporate partners.
Social Media & Higher Ed
How often are you in contact with your professional learning network (PLN)? Twice a year at conferences? Maybe at staff retreats each semester? There is so much going on in higher education all over the world, that it is important to have a finger on the pulse of the field as regularly as possible.
In this session we will use Twitter to construct a PLN, starting from the basics (what is a hashtag, anyway?). Tweet, follow, and connect with other experts in the field.
We will also discuss ways in which you can use social media to connect with institutions and students, including real time platforms such as Google Hangouts.
Click on the images or titles below to learn more about participating in the Summit, either as a presenter or as an attendee. Registration for anyone attending the Summit is $35 and will include breakfast and lunch. Please note that in order for us to know how many to expect for lunch, all registrations should be complete by October 15, 2013.
