Transferring International Credits to Utah State University

Before your transfer credits can be evaluated, International Undergraduate Admissions must receive official transcripts from each college or university for which you will request transfer credit review. Courses can be evaluated after you have been admitted to Utah State University (USU) as a degree-seeking student, confirmed your attendance, and provided the required documents as given in the information below.

Eligible credits will transfer as direct equivalents to USU courses or as elective credit. To make a transfer request, follow the steps below. [Note: This process can take several weeks and at times, months.]

You may email us if you have questions about the transfer credit process for international transcripts.

Provide Documentation

  1. Complete the Transfer Credit Request Form and email it along with the items listed below. In the text of the email, please include your full name and USU student ID number (called A- number).
  2. Attach form and additional documents (scanned as .pdf documents).
After all items are received, we will send your courses to USU department representatives for review. When the review is complete, they will give us a recommended USU equivalent course or in some cases, may determine that a course is not equivalent to a USU course and may not be transferred.

Information Required for Course Descriptions

A detailed course description or course syllabus is required for each course you wish to have reviewed for transfer credit, and must include the following:

  • Homework, class work, and exams required
  • The grading scale
  • The name of each professor
  • Title, author(s), and publication date of each textbook
Guidelines:
  • The university name must appear on each of the documents listed above
If the items above are not in English, each must be either printed in English language by the university, obtained from a university website, or translated into the English language by a certified translator. Email us to request suggestions for certified translation services.

Notification of Transferred Courses

You will be notified by email of courses approved for transfer credit. We will add the approved transfer courses to your USU transcript and notify you when this is complete. Courses may not transfer as the course(s) requested.

Note: This process can take several weeks or months, depending on the number of courses you wish to have reviewed, when all official transcripts and course descriptions are received, and availability of department reviewers.
