Visiting International Scholars

Visiting ScholarsJ-1 Exchange Visitors Program

Immigration status is about intent. International visitors to Utah State University engaged in consultation, observation, research, training, or demonstration of special skills should participate in the U.S. Department of State Exchange Visitor Program and be present on a J-1 visa. We are the primary administrative unit on campus for the J-1 Exchange Visitors Program.

Note: The U.S. Department of State prohibits hands-on interaction for exchange visitors’ programs in regards to patients, children, elderly, and animals. Please contact the Office of Global Engagement at 797-1124 or exchangevisitors@usu.edu for more information about these restrictions.

A J-1 visa is not required if visitors are coming to familiarize themselves with the campus, facilities, and program offerings or for meetings related to the development and implementation of partnership activities.

Email exchangevisitors@usu.edu for assistance with the visiting scholar process. Call 435-797-1124 to make an appointment.
